.About Me.

So, as you may have already read, my name is Andrew and I’m a rising sophomore here at Duke. I’m originally from the suburbs of Atlanta, GA, and have lived there for just about all of my life. I have a big extended family and absolutely love it when we all get together for the holidays. As for me, I love to travel, watch TV, and surf the web. I’m into technology and entertainment, and think that air travel is just the coolest thing ever. If you’re interested, here’s one of my favorite blogs: Cranky Flier.
Over the summer, I’ll be doing research in Dr. Fan Wang’s lab. Her lab consists of 4 grad students, a lab manager, and a post-doc. Including me and Priyanka (another Howard Hughes undergrad), there’s 9 of us. One big happy family!

We study the somatosensory system, predominately in mice. My project is actually to compare the trigeminal sensory system in mice with the systems in turtles and chickens. To do this, I’m employing a variety of techniques from molecular biology, from in situ staining, to retrograde dye tracing. I’m excited and ready for the next 8-weeks of research!
